Lucky Libby...Scooter gets a free ride!
"This decision to commute the sentence of a man who compromised our national security cements the legacy of an administration characterized by a politics of cyncism and division, one that has consistenly placed itself and its ideology above the law." Sen. Barack Obama on the Scooter Libby Commutation
My Thoughts: Once again, in life it is WHO you know, not what you do, that creates power. I don't care that Scooter Libby worked tirelessly for the American people as so many defenders have been quick to state. Don't tell me that the sentence for this government employee was too harsh. As taxpayers paying his salary, shouldn't he be held to an even higher level of standards and morals than the average American citizen? When push came to shove, Libby decided to lie and deceive to protect his government buddies rather than protect the American citizens that ultimately pay his salary, thus, in my mind a higher standard and penalty is mandatory. It's time to take away the pardon from our government officials. Let the courts do what they do best. The first presidential candidate that stands up and promises that they will not exercise this presidential right, will likely go a long way in getting my vote.
